The Zone 13 Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading reports alleging that the postponement of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) elections was caused by manipulation by the National Chairman.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Chidera Oha, described the publication circulating on social media and other online platforms as “entirely false, unfounded and misleading.”
According to the Command, the decision to postpone the elections was made to accommodate other important zonal engagements and official activities, while also ensuring that all relevant stakeholders have the opportunity to participate in the electoral process.
The Command urged members of the public to disregard the publication, alleging that it was the handiwork of individuals seeking to misinform the public and create unnecessary panic and anxiety.
It also advised the public, media organisations and stakeholders to rely only on information officially released by the Zonal Police Public Relations Office, warning that unverified reports should not be regarded as authentic.
The statement reaffirmed that the Zone 13 Command, under the leadership of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Godwin Iguh Eze, remains committed to transparency, professionalism and the timely dissemination of accurate information.
The Command expressed appreciation for the continued confidence and cooperation of the public and reiterated its commitment to providing timely, accurate and credible information.
