Eight Kidnap Victims Freed as Troops Repel Terrorists in Zamfara State, Nigeria

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully foiled a terrorist kidnapping operation and rescued eight abducted civilians during a swift response operation in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Security sources disclosed that the operation was carried out on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Ungwan Rogo community following credible intelligence indicating the presence of armed terrorists attempting to abduct residents in the area.

Acting promptly on the intelligence, the troops mobilised to the location, where they encountered the terrorists and engaged them in a fierce firefight. The troops’ superior firepower overwhelmed the assailants, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee into the surrounding bush.

During the operation, eight kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt, while two vehicles believed to have been used in the criminal operation were recovered.

Military sources said troops have sustained aggressive domination patrols across the general area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and to deny them freedom of movement.

The successful operation underscores the sustained offensive by Operation FANSAN YAMMA against terrorist and bandit networks across the North-West, as security forces continue intelligence-driven operations aimed at protecting communities and restoring lasting peace in the region.
